Wiki So Far

So far the research I have done will be focusing on two major sections in the wikis:  Sports and Twitch.tv. For sports I plan to talk about the data analytics used in MLB over the past few years and how it has impacted the game. Also I want to talk about European Football and how it grown and been impacted by social media over the past few years. For Twitch I would like to talk about the new DMCA copyright strike has impacted twitch and the streamers on the platform.

Blog: P2P

File Sharing is a sharing and transmitting of computer data in a network or internet with various access levels.(King). In simple terms file sharing is the process of sending data from one computer to another making it accessible for the other user at any time. It is basically information saved on a hard drive that can be accessed any time.  P2P or also known as peer-to-peer sharing is utilizing peer-to-peer networking to share information across the internet. P2P sharing is more tricky as the process of sharing is not illegal but the content included can be troublesome for parties sharing it and for the parties accessing it. BitTorrent is an example of a P2P file sharing. Privacy

One of the major issues that occur with privacy is the collection of data or as companies call it big data. Companies are tracking every single one of our moves and often times we are helpless. They often times are lobbyists for politicians who they use to push their agenda. If there is a hack or some sort of loss of information millions of lives of people will be exposed to unwarranted threats.  Another issue that comes with privacy and new media is the fact that anything you post on social media is not private. Once you post something on the internet it stays there forever. Especially kids in college can make questionable choices in their early 20s that can affect the rest of their lives. Companies can find out what type of person you are and a past mistake can be troublesome for your future job application processes.

Zoom is easily accessible and easy to use compared to another tool which Blackboard collaborate. Also to increase engagement between students and college is if the college runs TikTok as it is becoming more and more popular.  If possible Baruch could collaborate with some store for example and have a raffle where the winner wins a prize from the company. (ex: Baruch could work with an apparel company and a certain student wins a hoodie if they share a certain post or something).
